The way to future flood prevention and calamity mitigation in CHINA

Abstract: The paper studies the floods happened both in north and south of China through systematic analysis of the factors of natural background, population, flood control projects and economic strength, and points out that the flood control works in China will be facing serious challenge in the next 30 to 40 years. The flood control works is a kind of social project which involve a wide range of aspects, so it is ne-cessary to strengthen regional coorporations, coordinate relations between trades and adjust investment and macroeconomic patterns. The future flood control works in the country will be distinctive, bring forth social creativeness, and explore a road to resist flood suitable to China's national conditions. Finally, it identifies certain pres-sing issues awaiting to be studied and coped with in future flood control works.
