The Second Communique on major figures of the Fifth National Census ( Abstract ) |
The State Bureau of Statistics today publicized the second communique on major figures of the fifth national census. The communique shows that population of Henan Province is 92.56 million, the most among other provinces of China. With a population of 90.79 million, Shandong Province is the second. According to the published regional population distributions, Guangdong, Sichuan, Jiangsu, Hebei, Hunan, Hubei and Anhui provinces have the population beyond 50 million. Population in Tibet Autonomous Region has increased 420,300 in last ten years. In eastern China and the huge cities, the population grew very fast since the last censu in 1990. Guangdong Province increased 37.5% at the biggest margin in last ten years. Beijing's population increased 27.7%, Shanghai 25.5% and Hainan 20%. The population in Zhejiang, Fujiang and Tianjin increase more than 22.66%, the average growth rate throughout the country... In the western China, population in Xinjiang increased 27%, Ningxia 20.6%, Tibet 19.1%, Qinghai 16/1%, Yunnan 16% and Gansu 14%. In addition, the fifth census shows that Tibet Autonomous Region has a total population of 2.696 million. Of the total population in Tibet, population of Tibet ethnic group is 2.4111 million or 92.2% of the total, that of Han is 155,300 or 5.9% and population of the rest ethnic groups is 49,900 or 1.9%... |
