Job Title:

The Qinling Mountains Panda Conservation Focal Project Manager

Reports to:

WWF China Panda Programme Coordinator

Major Tasks and Responsibilities:

Responsible for all aspects of the successful implementation of this project, and for its contribution to meeting the goals of WWF's Giant Panda Species Action Plan.

1.Coordination:

Insures that implementation of the Project is coordinated with the rest of the Giant Panda Programme, and with initiatives of other WWF CPO programmes.

2.Communication

Provides timely updates on Project activities to donors, and works closely with Panda Communications staff to develop attractive and informative communications approaches and products to promote and publicize the Project.

Responsible for formal Project reporting and WWF Database updates from the Focal Project.

3.Budgetary Supervision

Works with WWF CPO Finance staff to insure that budget planning and expenditures meet the letter and spirit of the cooperative contract between WWF Netherlands and WWF China.

4.General

Participates fully and wholeheartedly in the general activities of WWF China, whether or not such activities are within the sphere of this TOR.

Qualifications

1)Knowledge and Experience

Bachelor's degree required, advanced or professional degree preferred. Some knowledge of panda and forest conservation issues required. Experience in management, networking, communications, economic development highly desirable.

At least ten years working experience.

2)Character

Must be energetic and proactive, with good leadership skills. Excellent judgement, diplomacy and ability to interact comfortably with people at all levels of status.

3)Language

Excellence in written and spoken Chinese and English is essential.

4)Other required skills

Teamwork; creative problem-solving; sensitivity to political issues; computer and internet literacy; excellence in interpersonal communication (written and spoken).

5)Commitment to Conservation of the Giant Panda and its Habitat

Essential.
