Wuhan Statistic Bureau released yesterday the result of the fifth population census. Wuhan City has a population of over 8.31 million.

The census data show in several characteristics: one is the notable growth of old and middle-aged population; second is the growth of population living in cities and towns; the third is the increase of population receiving higher education; the fourth is the great increase of population from other places; the fifth is that population of ethnic groups grow faster than Han people; and the sixth is the increase of population density.
