Do we need more lessons taught by the dust storms?

Hit by the dust storms, many people still pretend not to see the reality caused by the serious desertification process.

What is the reality? The desertification area has been as large as 2.62 million square kilometers, and is expanding at the speed of 2460 square kilometers a year... Facing this reality, what have done recent years?

Duirng 1997-98, 34 counties (banners) of the Inner Mongolia turned almost one hundred hectares of grassland into farmland. According to the plan, another 1.4 million hectares were reclaimed for farming in the 1999. In addition, some authority departments have planned to reclaim 400,000 hectares of grassland in Xinjiang in 2000. It seems nobody has thought about the consequence...
