Ministry of Agriculture and government at different levels are organizing to prevent harm by crop-munching locusts. Dry weather this year helps locusts breed. According to the statistics, the east-Asian locusts have already affected almost one million hectares of farmland in Shandong, Henan, Hebei, Tianjin, Anhui, Shanxi and Shaanxi province. Locusts have landed on 1.3 million hectares of Xinjiang grass and crop land and eaten through about 820,000 hectares, according to statistics from the Regional Locust Prevention and Control Office. The density goes to 1000-4000 per square meter. The disaster could go worse without prevention action.

At present more than 1000 tons of pesticide, 20,000 locust control machines, and 10 pest control airplanes are prepared. More than 10,000 personnel will join the control work.
